December Features + Contest Winners

My internet has been acting up for over a week now. My internet speed is rarely more than 20kB/s in the evening and the people from Vodafone, my provider, have been about as helpful as a pack of monkeys. Why can't they just admit they srewed up, instead of offering me one stupid "solution" after another?

But enough whining. Apart from that little nuisance life has been as usual and I'm back to the monthly journal updates now, so there's a nice selection of features to go along with this entry.

I used to update my journal once a month, but have broken that cycle with my last entries, though I do think I always had a good reason to do so. Anyway, I want to get back to the monthly updates, so this one is to bridge the time gap until December. I'd like to do so by promoting =vvirtual's new contest themed "Atlantis". Apart from that I feel dA has been very good to me lately. I've gotten another DD, a new subscription and I've met a lot of great people and fellow artists at the dA chatrooms. My friend list is growing. Some I've known for a while now, others are new friends, and though there are too many to feature all at once, these are my favourites from at least some of their respective galleries:

I don't know where to start with this journal entry. It's the last day of vacation and though I am looking forward to going back to the uni tomorrow, I do know I'll miss all the free time I've had over the last weeks. This day has been very sweet nonetheless. I won the fantasy landscape contest held by =vvirtual [link]

There were a ton of entries so I really wasn't expecting much anything.
Anyway, part of the prize was a new dA subscription, so I updated my CSS (I don't know a thing about CSS so all I really did was change the background picture

) Having a subscription also means I can feature other artists again, so I guess the least I can do now is to show off some of the contest's other great entries and say "Thank you very much!" to Vvirtual and his team.

New and old tablet

Hehe. just a few days ago, I was really pissed because I thought my tablet was broken. I ordered a new, smaller one and did some painting yesterday. This morning, just out of curiosity, I tried using the pen from my new tablet with my old one. - And it worked! Apparently only the pen had broken. I can use my good ol' Aiptek tablet again, and I'll keep the smaller one as a spare. Yippie! It's funny the way things work out sometimes.

My trusty Aiptek tablet just kicked the bucket. Grrr! *$&%§$
My printer also broke down a week ago, and for some stupid reason both devices waited until their warranties had just expired.

To be completely honest though, I'm surprised the tablet lasted this long. I've carried it to and from the uni a lot this last semester (in my backpack while riding my bike...).
I've been looking at tablets on ebay for about an hour now, but can't decide what to get. The prices for Wacom tablets are insane, so I'll probably go with Genius or Aiptek again.
Is there somebody here who can tell me whether the Genius tablets are any good?

I was working on another painting, put probably won't be able to finish it for a while now. At least I'll be spending less time staring at my computer screen (I tend to do that far too much).

My new tablet just arrived. It's from Odys and half the size of my old one, but so far it's working fine.
