~o~ The Forest Shrine ~o~

Somewhat inspired by the movie The Fountain, which is one of the visually most stunning movies I've ever seen. I've wanted to paint this for quite some while, but never got past some early sketching until now. I'm still not 100% satisfied with this, but it's close enough to what I had envisioned. As usuall I'll probably work on it some more another day.

So breathtaking and magnificent. Makes me think of the magical world of Mimzy. I could easily lose myself in these fantastical realms you bring to life. I've never heard of/seen The Fountain, but seeing this makes me long to.

I have never seen The Fountain but now I might. It certainly looks intriguing and mystical. Very eerie but in a calm sort of serene kind of way. The stones in front of the door way remind me of the Standing Stones in Skyrim, lol. And the door reminds me of the stone door to the Mines of Moria in Middle-Earth (the Lord of the Rings).

The goat skull thing above the door has definitely pagan overtones although I don't mean that in a derogatory sense at all. It just reminds me of the ancient Celts of the United Kingdom and Europe. The light peeking through the doorway is beautiful and promising kind of like a gateway to heaven although tempered by that face above it which looks a tad bit creepy perhaps suggesting that the doorway leads to not only good things but also danger, although perhaps that's a good thing.

The glowing orbs around it add to the mysterious, calm, soothing affect and give it a child like innocence that balances the standing stones and the eerie face above the door. The forest looks foreboding and menacing but tranquil and peaceful at the same time if that makes any sense.

Overall, I get a very magical, powerful, and ancient feel to the place and it is definitely a shrine worth guarding. It might just inspire a fantasy adventure story in my head since I dabble in that kind of writing from time to time. Truly, this is a work of art and something that's worth a fave. Spectacular!

The fountain is definitely worth watching. Some of the visuals are breathtaking, though the story can be pretty weird and confusing at times.
