~o~ Nightmare ~o~

Full view please

This doesn't really fit the season. Sorry about that :D

I came up with the idea last night. The picture makes more sense if you know one of my older pics called "dreaming", so take a look if you haven't seen it yet ;)

Back when I was working on my Magic Gateway series I painted the dark version first and then had to create a lighter version. This time around I challenged myself to turn a light, happy picture into a gloomy, frightening one. It was definitely fun to do...^^ And on a side note: This is probably my darkest picture so far. Not sure whether that's a good sign... :P

Thanks for looking,
~Jerry

Wonderful contrast to the "Dreaming" - picture. The troubled water is beautifully done.

This is in such sharp contrast to the previous picture. It’s so dark and eerie but I think I like it better than the other one. Mostly it makes me wonder what could have happened here since the last visit. How long has it been? Why is everything blackened? Is it even safe here anymore? There seems to have been a devastating fire that was recently put out, since the trees are still smoking. Maybe the cold snowy wind extinguished it. Even though it looks like the environment is destroyed, it still seems to have benevolence towards the dreamer, using the signs to warn him or her away. You do really great and detailed work on all your drawings, but I think this one is my personal favorite. The grayish, black, and red color scheme is one I particularly love. It also reminds me of Sweeney Todd, both visually and thematically. The thorny vines and strangely glowing red stuff that’s probably blood really adds to the overall feeling of fear and foreboding. It also seems like the lamp from before has been replaced with a cage with blood dripping from it. Very striking and beautiful drawing.

A lot of people didn't like this painting when I first uploaded it. I guess they felt like had destroyed the other picture with it, which never was my intention. I just wanted to show dream and nightmare versions of the same place, nothing more. I'm glad you like both pictures the way they are :)

Yeah, they're both really good and detailed pieces of art.

I don't think this is a positive sign; I really want to go live there.

Welch Kontrast zu diesem Werke; [link]

Und natürlich zu dem Gegenstück. Doch was nicht konstruiert, mag nochmals mehr aussagen...
